Soraya Rodríguez, MEP from Renew Europe group, warns of the growing authoritarianism in governments around the world and their denial of women’s rights, including the right to abortion, and has sent a message to EU countries that are trying to curtail sexual freedoms: without women’s rights there is no democracy. Rodriguez says that for the first time in 20 years, more authoritarian governments are governing the world than democracies. She welcomed the suspension by a federal judge of a law restricting the right to abortion in the US state of Texas after the 6th week of pregnancy.
