Soraya Rodríguez warns that Europe is not prepared for a rapid increase in climate risks, according to a European report.
Soraya Rodríguez, member of Renew Europe group, warns that Europe is not prepared for a rapid increase in climate risks, according to a report on EU climate resilience prepared by a community agency.
The MEP says that Europe is the continent whose average temperature is rising fastest, which greatly affects the energy and food system, ecosystems, water resources and also public health. In addition, this can affect the stability of the financial system in the long term.
Rodriguez points out that these climate changes are already having an effect on the day to day, but that in the long term they can also have catastrophic effects for millions of European citizens, especially in southern Europe.
Finally, the MEP calls on the EU Climate Commissioner that it is not time to reduce climate ambition or reverse environmental policies and measures.
