Rodriguez says that the cause of this increase is not related to the Green Deal, but, on the contrary, is the bill for not having acted earlier to decarbonise the economy, increase renewables and clean energy. She points out that the Commission and the Member States have the challenge of increasing their connections, reforming the energy tax system to avoid double taxation, working to avoid speculation and profits falling out of the sky for electricity companies, and implementing social measures such as the social bonus for electricity.
