“A decarbonized Europe will be a more competitive Europe, better for workers and citizens”, she said.
Soraya Rodríguez, MEP for Ciudadanos and spokesperson for the environment in the European Parliament, Soraya Rodríguez, has welcomed the political courage and responsibility of the EU to move forward with the Fit for 55 legislative package to combat climate change. These legislations will be approved this week by the European Parliament’s plenary. “A decarbonised Europe will be a more competitive Europe, better for workers and citizens”.
Soraya Rodríguez defended the proposal that she herself has worked on regarding carbon absorption by the soil and, specifically, the role that agriculture and forestry will play “as fundamental agents of reduction”. She hoped that the mechanism she has promoted to introduce flexibility in the levels of absorption required of each country will be approved, so as to take into account the disturbances caused by climate change, especially in the south of the EU, but not only in the south, “I hope that this legislation package will be approved”.
