Soraya Rodríguez condemns the possible genocide in Gaza and highlights the need for response from the signatories of the convention against genocide.
Soraya Rodríguez, member of Renew Europe group, thanked Josep Borrell for his work on Israel’s attacks on Gaza against civilians and the possible crime of genocide being committed.
The MEP stresses the need for all countries signatory to the Genocide Convention to take steps to prevent the possible commission of this crime, as the International Court of Justice has pointed out.
In the case of Europe, she points out that these measures involve suspending the EU-Israel Association Agreement, in addition to stopping the shipment of arms and imposing sanctions on Israel.
Finally, the MEP points out that failure to act has aggravated the situation in Gaza, which today has Israeli tanks at the gates of the territory, which may further aggravate the humanitarian situation inside.
