Renew Europe MEP Soraya Rodriguez presents the new preliminary agreements reached between the EU and Chile. Within these agreements, the MEP points to the draft recommendation regarding the approval of this agreement and the new Advanced Framework Agreement between the EU and Chile. Rodriguez gives his approval to support the agreement and for ratifying it as soon as possible. From the second text, the MEP underlines the geopolitical importance of the agreement, in a context of increased EU attention to Latin America. The MEP also points to the inclusion of protection elements related to human rights, the rule of law and democracy or the protection of indigenous peoples. Finally, she calls for greater collaboration in the field of migration; highlights the novelty of the trade chapter, which pays special attention to the role of women for the first time; and points the need to establish sustainable food systems.
