Soraya Rodríguez calls for a deepening of relations with the Palestinian Authority, asking for more democracy, respect for human rights and elections.
The MEP for Ciudadanos Soraya Rodríguez has called for the EU to deepen its relations with the Palestinian Authority and has asked the plenary of the European Parliament to support the resolution to be voted on this week, which also calls on the Palestinian government for more democracy, respect for human rights, the fight against corruption and the immediate holding of elections.
“But we are doing so in the context of the military occupation of Palestine, which is becoming more and more an illegal annexation, which clearly puts the two-state solution at risk. I therefore ask you to support this report,” she said.
“The European Commission has found no diversion of European funds to terrorist organisations, it has found no evidence of hatred in textbooks used in Palestinian schools, and the 27 states have disavowed Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi for the temporary suspension of funds, which has led to a devastating humanitarian situation, given the situation of the Palestinian population,” she said.
