Soraya Rodríguez calls on EU to include Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization.
The Ciudadanos MEP and spokesperson for Equality and Women’s Rights, Soraya Rodríguez, has called on the EU to include Iran’s Revolutionary Islamic Guard on the list of terrorist organisations, due to the brutal regime it has imposed in the country with the execution of women and opponents. She also asked for concrete actions to help the country’s women because they are at the forefront of the protests.
“We must prioritise women, who with their scream of women, life and freedom are at the forefront of the protests and must also be at the forefront of the reaction of the international community. They need concrete actions, they need emergency visas to protect their lives, Europe needs to be much more forceful and assertive”, she said.
Soraya Rodríguez defended the resolution against the Iranian regime to be approved in the EP plenary. “We are horrified by the executions and murders of young demonstrators, the pain of their families, the anguish of those 26 demonstrators awaiting their death sentence. We cannot stand by and watch this horror in silence”, she demanded.
